A while back I share a post called Creating A Dinosaur Themed Bedroom On A Budget, full of inspiration and ideas for the dinosaur room I wanted to create for my 2 youngest boys.
In case you missed it, you can check it out by clicking HERE.
Currently I am about halfway through decorating the bedroom, I still have a few fiddly bits and pieces to finish off but I thought I would share with you a progress blog post.
Before I show you paint colours and what we’ve been doing with the furniture, take a look at the crazy chaos that had hit the room and pushed me over the de-cluttering and redesigning edge!
The center picture shows what colour the walls were once we shifted out the junk!
I wanted to lighten the room up a bit and make it look a whole lot ‘fresher’ for Levi and Elijah. Having a loft bunk and a cot set up in the room makes it a little bit squishy as it is, so having walls that are lighter and brighter will hopefully make the whole room look bigger.
I am right on board the lime green and grey train at the moment, however these colours are a lot brighter than I would put through the entire house! I think they’re a great choice for the dinosaur theme and I will create features with metallic silver paint to compliment the light grey around the room.
The wardrobes in the above picture have had one coat of the metallic silver paint. This paint is painfully expensive, but I found a paint shop that stock metallic sample pots. Perfect if you’re only using a little of it around the room or for small projects. It’s always worth asking!!!
I’ve also started painting the wall shelves grey in this picture too.
We purchased Levi’s loft bunk for a bargain price of $60 off a Facebook Buy, Swap & Sell site. While it fit in well with the blue walls this room originally had, it didn’t quite match enough for me to love it in this room revamp. I had MonsterSquad Dad pull it a part and undercoat and spray all the blue bits in a chrome paint.
It came up quite well, but after a few months of use the spray paint has become dull and needs a re-coat. Next time, when we fix it up, I will give it a coat of clear sealer spray paint to prolong the silver’s life on the metal parts.
Levi had chosen out some wall art stickers to put along the top of his window. On the grey wall, I created some more wall art by using their wooden name letters and adding a few extras to make them into ‘Dinosaurs’.
We now have a Levi-a-Saurus and an Elijah-Rex living in the house!!!
Stay tuned for more updates on the boy’s bedroom, including the fossil frame, toy jars and more.
