I recently wrote about needing to spend more time as a family together outdoors and away from the never ending ‘screens’ we have accumulated at home.
If you missed that post, you can check it out HERE.
The MonsterSquad and I spoke at length about what kinds of things that they would really love to do ‘outdoors’, and we compiled a list of ideas that we can refer back to when planning our weekends and school holidays.
Some of the things on the list include:
* The beach
* Bike Riding
* Walks to the park
One of their very most favourite memories is of the time we stayed with family down near the beach and spent time discovering all sorts of creatures in and around the rock-pools at Coronet Bay in Victoria.
We found crabs and yabbies, sea slugs and cucumbers, as well as spotting flounder fish swimming around our feet. The MonsterSquad took great delight in searching for starfish, assorted shells and more.
They really learned a lot that weekend, and the knowledge didn’t stop when we left the beach either. We then came home to find the kids ‘Googling’ for more information about what they had seen and found while we were out embracing nature.
I can’t recommend getting out into nature enough, your kids will remember it long after the day. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg either. Sometimes the most simplest adventures are the ones that stick with you forever!
Where will your next nature adventure take you?
