Watch Out! I Am Armed & Dangerous With A Dymo Label Maker {And I Have One To GIVEAWAY Too!!!}

CONFESSION TIME……

Forgive me readers for I have sinned…. Well I probably just haven’t expressed how deep my love for all things stationary really is. I may have skimmed the subject before but it truly is a love affair that has been with me since childhood.

You know, it may even cross the line into OBSESSION.

I LOVE STATIONERY!!!

Oh now that feels so much better…. Glad I got that off my chest because now I can tell you all about my latest toy and weapon in the chaos fight to regain organisation here at Chaos HeadQuarters.

{I’m about to BRAG}

Guess what I have??? My very own Dymo Label Maker… Yes that’s right, I have graduated from my original pink and yellow child friendly one to a fully fledged professional looking one. Oh how I knew this day would one day come.

LetraTag Labelmaker

Ahhhh sweet sweet organisation machine....

Please Note: HUBBY GROANS AND ROLLS EYES AT THE OBSESSIVE LABELING TO COME…. Bahahahahahahaha!!!

So my first point of call with my new Dymo is the MonsterSquad’s lunchboxes. No matter how many times I have named them with a permanent texta, it has come off, so I cranked out their name labels with the silver plastic/metallic tape that can withstand the washing of the boxes.

The next thing on my list was the school jumpers. At nearly $60 a pop, we can’t afford to lose them and trust me, they’ve lost a few already so within minutes of reloading the Dymo with the Iron on Fabric Tape, I had printed out several labels to attach to their wandering uniforms….

Now I was on a roll…… The toy room drawers earned themselves labels for what was stored in each drawer, which has made packing up each day a much easier experience.

My next stop will be our office area. I cannot wait to get a start on that one.

Now if you appreciate organisation and labeling like I do, you’ll be interested in the specs of this dynamic little machine!

* Large graphical display enables you to see text effects on screen before you print
* Print 5 font sizes, 7 texts styles, 195 symbols and 8 box styles
* 9-label memory
* Date stamping
* Auto-power off
* Easy to use navigation buttons for fast access to special features
* Prints 1 or 2 lines per label (12mm width)
* Prints on paper, plastic, metallic and iron on LetraTag labels
* Uses 4 AA batteries (not included) or optional AC adapter (not included)
* Available in tabletop format, and other colours

The best part about reviewing this awesome device is the fact that I get to share one with one lucky Common Chaos Chronicle reader.

I know plenty of you follow my blog in hope of organisation inspiration, so what better chance do you have to make a start on it than with one of these babies????

All I need you to do is leave a comment on this very blog post telling me what would be the first thing you would label with the Dymo if you won it. It’s that simple!

Now I understand if you’re all inspired and  cannot wait for the competition to finish so I will share this added piece of information with you too…

Officeworks (one of my all time favourite stores) are currently running a competition too.

If you head into your local Officeworks store before the 15th of July 2012 to purchase a Dymo Letratag Labelmaker (or a sharpie or Papermate Product), you’ll have the chance to win a family escape to Hawaii worth $20,000 or one of 50 $100 Officeworks vouchers.

How cool would it be to have even more Chaos Readers win awesome prizes?!? So head to Officeworks to check that one out!

THE FINE PRINT FOR THE COMMON CHAOS COMP!

* Competition is open to Australian Residents only.

* Competition will close on Friday 6th July 2012 at 5pm EST

* Judges decision is final

* Winner will be notified via Email so please make sure the email address you supply is correct!

Enter now and feel free to share this post around with friends and family too!

APOLOGIES FOR THE LACK OF PHOTOS IN THIS POST. SO FAR MOST OF MY LABELLING HAS HAD MY CHILDREN’S FULL NAMES ON IT AND FOR PRIVACY REASONS, I DON’T WANT ALL THAT DISPLAYED ON THE BLOG! XOX

Quite possibly I might label the children, so I would stop calling them the wrong names. (and I only have two!) And socks. And all my pantry contents. And finally organise my office!

The first thing I would label us kids toys, to stop the kids fighting over who’s is who!!

We are building a new house ATM and this is on my list of things to buy I am going to label everything. Wardrobes shelves so this kids know where tshirts go and the like. My pantry is huge so I will have lots of fun in there too. With 4 kids you can imagine what the toyroom will look like so labeling will be a life saver in there as well xx

The first thing would be what ever is closest to me when i open it…….the label maker itself i bet lol.

I think an easier question here would be what wouldn’t i label first and even then I’m sure i couldn’t answer it because i think id just about wanna label everything and anything.

Posted on 29th June 2012 - 2:43 pm by Emma

What would I label? EVERYTHING!

Posted on 29th June 2012 - 4:35 pm by Melissa

Ooh I know how you feel! I too am in love with labels but alas my labeller broke! I feel like I’m having withdrawals without it!!

Posted on 29th June 2012 - 6:27 pm by Trish

My Tupperware pantry containers because with hubby doing more cooking now I’m out of action- I want to avoid #diasterchef #fails because he can’t tell difference from plain flour/ SR flour and even corn flour , caster sugar and salt – you get the picture.

After laughing really hard at the fact I’m not the only stationary lover, I had to remind myself the dymo labelmaker I pulled out of my precious, no children allowed stationary draw, IS NOT MINE, and promptly returned it next door to it’s rightful owner, I had visions of neatly labelled kitchen cupboards, kids lunch wear, draws of toys, containers of beading accessories, bathroom baskets, DVD carriers, LEGO containers i think you get the idea!! I would be in label heaven!! It was so hard to only borrow next doors for P&C filing, oh here i go on more ideas!!! I will dream of labels for nights now!!!

I could find so many things that I could label – I have wanted a label maker for a long time. I would start with the plastic food containers I have in my pantry.

Posted on 29th June 2012 - 8:29 pm by Deborah

I love stationery too!!! I have so much I think I would start with labeling it and my office!!

Posted on 29th June 2012 - 9:34 pm by Kate Fletcher

I really really need a label maker!!! There are many many things I want to label, but the first things would be the different folders I have for my little boy’s medical information and speech therapy activities

Posted on 30th June 2012 - 10:56 am by Fiona Arthur

You and I would be best friends on account of the stationary thing! I would label my whole pantry to start with!

Posted on 30th June 2012 - 10:59 am by Erica Mealy

PLEASE.. I need one of these, the first thing I’d label is my *VERY* out of control filing cabinet! All the folders have nikko scrawled on them almost illegibly! Oh and the cannisters (of flour etc) in my kitchen are in DESPERATE need.. I accidentally used self raising flour in a recipe that called for plain flour and baking powder.. needless to say (a) they didn’t taste right.. they had a little too much ZING (was like eating pancakes made of sherbert!) and (b) it took almost triple the other ingredients to fix the problem!

Last time I borrowed one of these it was HEAVEN! bookcases were categorised and labled, folders, study everything.. it was DIVINE! & Did you know they make iron on label paper too? SO you can print from a dymo and then iron onto kiddies clothes! Totally need one of these, though I must say I wish I had a piccie of last time.. I may have even labelled the cat and the dog :P

The first thing I would do is label all the plastic containers and jars in my pantry, whose contents only become obvious upon opening. Of course, I always guess the wrong container and end up pulling everything out in my search for that one ingredient I need!

Posted on 30th June 2012 - 8:03 pm by Deb

The pantry – it is chaos, have containers that I labelled with our old label maker, but the label mostly bears no relation to the contents of the container!! Fortunately, I do most of the cooking round here…

Posted on 1st July 2012 - 10:30 am by Jolene Humphry

Oh Jac, I would go on a complete labelling frenzy starting with anything and everything that the children take to school/kinder/day care.

The Woo especially is very good at losing things. We are only halfway through the year and he has lost a total of 3 lunch boxes, 5 drink bottles…and 3 sun hats. If this continues I will have to remortgage the house and sell one of Hubbster’s organs to fund his primary school career!

Posted on 1st July 2012 - 9:41 pm by Sarah

I would label everything on my desk, so I could actually find my kids medical records when I need them! Then I would go on to stick labels on the edge of each shelf in the pantry so that the flour, cereal and cordial actually went back where they belong. Mmmm … bliss.

Posted on 1st July 2012 - 10:39 pm by Sue B

I’d label my TAFE folders/books/files as I always seem to be shuffling them around muttering “I know I put that in here somewhere!!!”

Posted on 2nd July 2012 - 12:24 am by Kloi-Jayd

The first thing I would label is my side of the bed… then hubby may get the hint!!! Then I will just have to teach him to read while he is asleep.

I would label the toilet seat “Pleeease Put Me Down!”

Posted on 2nd July 2012 - 1:54 pm by bubble936

I need to label all the dishes in my freezer that i am cooking these days to use during the initial days when my newborn is here. Dymo Label Maker will really be helpful in this.

The washing basket, with: PUT YOUR CLOTHES HERE!

Posted on 3rd July 2012 - 9:07 am by Sharon Fawcett

I’d label the Laundry because it seems that I am the only person in the house at the moment who is capable of finding it. And I’d also put a label on the bathroom floor saying ‘This is not where your dirty clothes belong!’

Posted on 3rd July 2012 - 10:16 am by Andrea

defiantly the kids schools stationary
I am sick of buying new pencils, pens and other school essentials just to see them go missing again and again and again

Posted on 3rd July 2012 - 2:12 pm by Cathy Dunn

My mind if I could, I always seem to be losing it, otherwise, I’d use it to sort out my stories, I’m into creative writing and I have boxes full of unsorted scribble, so A labeller sould be fantastic for sorting it all out into genre, date, etc…

Posted on 3rd July 2012 - 3:17 pm by Joanne Williams

I would label everything in my study! I have scrapbooking stuff, folders of articles and correspondence, and it’s sometimes hard to put my hand on just what I want. Thanks for the chance to enter!

Posted on 3rd July 2012 - 3:58 pm by Dee

As immature of me as this sounds, I’d make a label to adorn my next door neighbours number plate, fitting perfectly across the top of it & announcing the word exactly what he is. Yes, a ‘Dick head’.

It would bring such laughter to our neighbourhood, for ages too as he’d probably never notice it!!!

Posted on 3rd July 2012 - 4:00 pm by Diana

Every shelf, space and drawer. This way every thing will have it’s place, and every place will have it’s thing……in proper order without me needing to nag any more.

All my craft and sewing supplies because they just seem to multiply every day!

Posted on 4th July 2012 - 8:50 pm by Sandra

I would label everything my son takes out of this house because half of it never seems to make it home again!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 1:16 pm by Nicole W

I would label my parents ‘medication’ containers with their names and medications so they never mix them up again!!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 1:29 pm by KC

Everything that belongs to my children that leaves the house – seriously my kids are always leaving items somewhere!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 2:16 pm by Karyn R

I’d label the label maker!!! Cause it would be mine! Mine! MINE I tell you and no-one else’s!!!!!!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 2:22 pm by Kazzie

For some reason, nobody can find our poor neglected doorbell … so the first thing I’ll do is to put the DYMO to good use … ‘DOORBELL!’ with lots of arrows and stick it on the outside wall! :)

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 4:07 pm by SHANEEN TINNING

Can’t wait to lable MY DYMO LABEL MAKER!!! I want everyone to know who owns that fantastic labeller. I have no intention of loosng it!!!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 7:51 pm by Karlene

I’d label the containers I have in the pantry. A few months ago, when my parents were visiting, dad put 2 teaspoons of salt in his coffee thinking it was sugar. Oops! I’d love an organised pantry with everything labeled.

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 9:37 pm by Kiely

My box of cords! I have them all in ziplock bags which I thought was a great idea, but a simple label eg “camera charger” would make life so much easier in a world of gadgets!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 10:25 pm by Monica

The leftovers with their date…hubby insists on eating them all no matter what! Hoping to avoid food poisioning..his!!!

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 11:36 pm by Melinda

My hubby wants me to label items in and on the shelves in the freezer. He also wants a white board on the outside of the door with each shelf noted down. ( like I have time to do that!)

Posted on 5th July 2012 - 11:46 pm by Han

I am a huge stationary fan … first I will mark all MY pens because whenever I need it, it’s missing and then I would love to be able to label the kids school clothes or any other clothing , especially when they have playdates etc.

Posted on 6th July 2012 - 1:31 am by Ashley

He’s great with the kids, but I’ve already ‘labelled’ my hubby useless when it comes to helping out with the cleaning. With a new Dymo, I’d make it official:)

Posted on 15th July 2012 - 12:17 am by Jackie

I have the same label maker and just love it, and proudly labeled the pantry within the first day of owning it. My hint, and excuse to use it more, is I also label the due date of the foods in the pantry. At the beginning of each month I do a quick and very easy scan of the cupboard to see if anything has expired or is about to to reduce wastage. Enjoy!
